Calculator results for contributions
In the case of an employee or an employer, the Employer's Share and the Employee's Share will show their relative contribution. This is true for the membership types Employee and Employer as well as Household Employee and Employer. Their contribution will be divided equally.
For Self Employed, this is not true, because the contribution is due by the member alone. You will find it marked "not applicable" in the result section.
Here are some contribution tables for your reference.
How Does the Social Security System Work?
Philippine workers are covered by the Social Security System (SSS), a government-run social insurance program. The SSS funds retirement benefits, disability benefits, sickness benefits, maternity benefits, and death benefits.
Throughout their working lives, Filipino workers can build a safety net by contributing regularly to SSS.
With this SSS contribution calculator Philippines, you can calculate your basic monthly salary credit with ease.
A Guide to Understanding Your Social Security Contributions
For a full appreciation of your SSS contributions, it is helpful to understand the calculations behind the calculator. Based on your Monthly Salary Credit (MSC), which is rounded up or down to the nearest bracket in the official SSS contribution table, the amount is calculated.
For employed members, the total contribution rate is 14% of the MSC. This is divided into two parts: an employee share (4.5%) and an employer share (9.5%). This is the basis for the sss deduction calculator. For example, a monthly salary of ₱30,000 corresponds to an MSC of ₱30,000, resulting in a total contribution of ₱4,200. The sss employee contribution 2023 would be ₱1,350, while the employer remits ₱2,850.
For self-employed and voluntary members, they pay the entire 14% of their chosen MSC. The minimum MSC is ₱4,000, and the maximum is ₱30,000. For OFWs, the total contribution is also based on a different table, reflecting a unified approach to their remittance.
It's worth noting how these rates have evolved. Checking a historical SSS contribution table from 2021 will reveal different rates and a lower maximum MSC. SSS's gradual increase in contribution rates and the maximum MSC is part of its long-term goal of improving its benefit fund.
