SSS Contribution Table for Self-Employed 2025

This contribution table contains the new contribution amounts and breakdowns for self-employed individuals who do their own work to earn a living.

As of this year, the SSS contribution table for self-employed individuals is set at ₱5,250 and below for their minimum compensation range, while the maximum compensation range has been raised to ₱34,750.

Members of SSS now have access to a Mandatory Provident Fund, which aims to provide them with additional monetary benefits.

Here is the SSS Contribution Table. You can simply hover your mouse over the desired row, which will highlight all corresponding details.

In contrast with Employee and Employer statuses where payments are shared, self-employed members are solely responsible for paying the entire amount.

Self-employment vs. voluntary SSS contributions

A compulsory member is divided into workers and individual members of the SSS Program. A compulsory member may be a worker or an individual, and may include:

  • Businesses and households (Employers)
  • The employees
  • People who are self-employed
  • Kasambahay (househelper)
  • Filipinos working abroad

It is also possible to contribute to SSS as a voluntary member. This applies to non-working spouses, separated members, and Filipinos living overseas permanently.

For freelancers and self-employed people, SSS contributions are a mandatory requirement to ensure you have adequate coverage if you ever need benefits or financial assistance.

What is the formula for calculating SSS contribution for self-employed individuals?

In the case of self-employment, your SSS contribution may be determined by your income2.

  • Contribution to the Social Security System (SS)
  • EC (Employee Compensation)
  • Contributions to the WISP (Workers’ Investment and Savings Program)

SS contributions are determined by your income, while EC contributions vary based on income, starting at 10 PHP and increasing to 30 PHP above 15,000 PHP. If you earn less than 20,000 PHP, you can make voluntary contributions to the WISP, but you cannot make WISP payments on a mandatory basis.

According to the Philippine Social Security Administration, self-employed workers and freelancers pay 14% of their taxable income as SS contributions.

How do self-employed individuals pay their Social Security contributions?

The SSS offers various ways to pay contributions. You can use an app or a website, but you can also pay cash or a cheque in SSS offices, bank branches, and ATMs. The flexibility to make your contributions in the way you prefer gives you a greater sense of control over the process. Your SSS account will tell you the deadline for your monthly or quarterly payments – check your account online to make sure you know what they are.

Checking SSS contributions online

Creating a SSS account online gives you access to your SSS records, contributions, and the status of your claims. You can do this on the SSS website by going to the membership portal.

A step-by-step guide to registering for an online SSS account can be found here:

  • Register by visiting SSS’s website: SSS.gov.ph, clicking on Member, then registering
  • Please fill out the following information
  • Choose a password and a security question, then confirm your details
  • Upon securing and verifying your account, you will be able to view your contribution information in the member area

What is the procedure for paying freelancers’ SSS contributions online?

If you’re paying your SSS contributions in cash at a location or by cheque, you’ll need to fill out SS Form RS-5 (Contributions Payment Return) and pass it over when you pay4. The easier option is to pay online or in the SSS app.

In the app, you can pay in PHP using GCash, PayMaya, your Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) account, or a debit or credit card. Online you can pay through the app or website of an accredited SSS collecting partner, which includes GCash, PayMaya, Robinsons Bank Corporation (RBC), or Union Bank of the Philippines (UBP).

Your SSS contributions must be made in PHP, so if you’re working with overseas clients and receiving payments in foreign currencies, you’ll have to convert your income to PHP to use it.

If you would like to know how much you contributed, just check the Total Column at the last part of the form.
